Lake Alice Wildlife Management Area, West Chazy, NY

Join Northern New York Audubon and the Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department for a morning of birding at Lake Alice Wildlife Management Area, one of Clinton County’s birding hotspots.

Betsy Miner, Mar Bodine, and Ken Adams will lead the group as we explore Lake Alice’s diverse habitats, including open water, marsh, fields, shrub meadow, and mixed forest. Nearly 150 bird species have been recorded here, and in early September we’ll be on the lookout for a mix of resident birds and fall migrants.

Birders of all experience levels are welcome!

Registration: Group size is limited to 15 participants, with priority given to Town of Plattsburgh and Northern New York Audubon members. To register, call 518-562-6860 or email erinp@townofplattsburghny.gov.

Meeting location: Main parking area at Lake Alice WMA on Ridge Road, West Chazy. Take I-87 to Exit 41. Turn west onto Miner Farm Road (Route 191) and continue for 0.5 miles. Turn left (south) onto Ridge Road and continue for 1.3 miles.

What to bring: Binoculars, water, snacks, insect repellent, and sunscreen. We’ll have a few pairs of binoculars available to borrow.
