Birding Walk at Rugar Woods

Explore this hidden birding gem behind the SUNY Plattsburgh Field house! This outing will traverse the forested and wetland habitats along the Saranac River above the Imperial Mills Dam. Expect to see a variety of resident and migrant songbirds, and possibly more. The planned route is approximately 2 miles round trip with level to moderately steep dirt paths. Trail conditions may be muddy in spots depending on the weather.

Meeting Time: 9:00 AM

Location: Rugar Woods Blue Trails, meet at the northwest parking lot. From Rugar Street, turn into the west entrance for SUNY Plattsburgh Field House (near the softball field). Continue straight and turn right into the driveway ~200 ft past the softball field.

Bring: Binoculars, snacks, water and dress for the weather.
